Life DemoWave clears permitting hurdles

first_imgLife DemoWave project has secured a permit to deploy wave energy converters for trials off the coast of Galicia, Spain.The agreement, allowing the Life DemoWave project to install two wave energy prototypes at the experimental site in Punta Langosteira, was signed on May 18, 2017, between the leader of the project, Quantum Innovative, and the Energy Institute of Galicia (INEGA) that manages the deployment site.The Life DemoWave team also said it is currently working on the construction of two 25kW prototypes, which will be deployed at the site to demonstrate the viability of using wave energy converters for power production.The project also aims to highlight the environmental benefits of the system, by quantifying the reduction of carbon footprint and other pollutants along the entire cycle, and identifying and minimizing its impact on biodiversity.Life DemoWave project, with the total budget of €1.8 million, was awarded €1 million through LIFE program – the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action.The project will run for two years, until September 2018, involving a multidisciplinary consortium which, in addition to Quantum Innovative, also includes the University of Vigo, CETMAR, Advanced Crew and Ship Management (ACSM), Hércules Control (HCTech), and Grupo Josmar.last_img read more

first_img Tweet Share Share Sharing is caring! 21 Views   no discussionscenter_img LocalNews Dominica ready to host 10th Caribbean Week of Agriculture by: – October 6, 2011 Share Delegates forming part of the 10th Annual Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) which will be held in Dominica from October 9th to 15th have already begun arriving on island.A move that the organizers say has proven the importance of the event.Accommodations Coordinator of the CWA Athenia Henry told a press briefing today that over 250 delegates have already been booked and have begun arriving in Dominica.She said hotels are booked and all is set for the grand event.“We have used a number of accommodations from Portsmouth to all the way in the south. Over 20 various hotels and guest houses have been used. Delegates are coming from a number of African countries, Europe, Central America and the region. We have also put in place officers who will work well with the delegates who are coming in,” he said.She said there are over 40 VIP’s on the list and the protocol office is well ready to receive these persons.“Chief of our VIP will be our own Secretary General of CARICOM Erwin LaRoque. This is his first visit since his appointment, added to that we have a number of events and meetings taking place. Most of the organizations who have anything to do with agriculture will be in Dominica,” she said.Meantime Coordinator of the Caribbean Week of Agriculture Edward Registe says several aspects of the Dominican economy will benefit from event.Described as what may be the biggest agriculture event to be hosted by Dominica, Registe says the main focus will be centered upon the country’s agriculture sector but several other aspects will be involved.“It’s really a national project and several other sectors in society, tourism health trade and others are involved in this. first_imgBatesville, IN—Margaret Mary Health is hosting one of the State’s drive-thru locations for COVID-19 testing. If you are a healthcare worker, first responders, or essential workers, or someone in your household is symptomatic and tested positive or you are not a healthcare worker, first responder, or essential worker but you are at higher risk due to your age, weight, or underlying health conditions and are symptomatic you qualify to be tested at this site. One test will be conducted per vehicle, testing is for Indiana residents only, and proof of residency in the State is required. The drive-thru testing will be held on Margaret Mary Health’s Main campus located at 321 Mitchell Ave, Batesville.Appointments are – Walk-in and the location is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and on Saturday from 7 am to 12 pm.  Requirements to be Tested are a doctor’s note, payment options, and insurance information.  For more information or questions, you can call 812-933-5138.last_img read more
